Q: I have a new name, title or address. How do I let the Alumni Association know?
A: To change your name, title or address, call the Alumni Records Office at 734.647.6190.
Q: How do I inform the University of the death of an alumnus/a?
A: Call the Alumni Records Office at 734.647.6190 and be prepared to give them the following information: University/Alumni Identification number, full name (including the name the deceased attended under, if different), degree year, school/college attended (e.g. College of Engineering) and the date of death.
Q: I need to know my membership ID number. Where can I find it?
A: Your membership ID number can be found on most University and Association publications. It is the ten-digit number beginning with at least three zeros found above your name. You can also call the Alumni Association Customer Service Department at 800.847.4764 (Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Eastern time) or email m.alumni@umich.edu.
Q: Over the years, I've lost touch with a college friend. How can I contact them?
A: The Alumni Association cannot release an address or telephone number due to privacy concerns, but as a membership benefit we will forward a message for you. Just enter the information requested into our online alumni locator form, and we will try to locate your friend! The form is located at www.umalumni.com/membership under "Alumni Locator." If you are not a member of the Alumni Association, contact the Alumni Records office at 734.647.6190 for assistance. Or check inCircle, our online alumni directory.
Q: How do I contact MBNA regarding my University of Michigan Alumni Association credit card?
A: Contact MBNA at 800.421.2110 or visit their Web site at www.mbna.com.
Q: Is my Alumni Association membership tax-deductible?
A: Alumni Association membership dues are fully tax deductible for individuals who itemize deductions. Please consult your tax advisor for details. Our standard process is to mail you a receipt if your membership dues payment is $250 or more within a given calendar year. If your dues payment is under $250, your credit card statement or cancelled check will serve as a receipt for your tax returns.
Q: Can you tell me about the Online Alumni Directory?
A: inCircle is our online alumni directory and networking community. Access to inCircle is free to all alumni (graduates or those who have successfully completed at least one semester in a degree-granting program). inCircle users choose how much personal information is available to others through the directory. The default fields available contain your name, degree, year of graduation, and school or college.
Q: I haven't received my season ticket order form or want to get athletic tickets. What should I do?
A: For information regarding athletic ticket purchases, contact the Athletic Department at 734.764.0247 or 866.296.MTIX or at www.mgoblue.com.
Q: Where can I golf in Ann Arbor?
A: Contact the University of Michigan Golf Course at www.mgoblue.com/umgc or 734.615.4653, or contact Radrick Golf Course at www.umich.edu/~radrick or 734.998.7040. Alumni have playing privileges at the University course; simply show your Alumni Association membership card.
Q: Can I continue my umich.edu email account or obtain a University Internet Service Provider?
A: You can use email forwarding, which gives you a "umich.edu" address but forwards mail to another email account, like a Yahoo or work email. Email forwarding is not an email account but a forwarding service only. You can also subscribe to U-M Online, an Internet Service Provider. Contact the ITD Office at 734.764.8000. You can also reach them via the Internet at www.itd.umich.edu.
Q: How do I get a copy of my diploma or transcript?
A: For copies of your diploma or transcript, please contact the Registrar's Office at 734.763.5174, via email at registrar@umich.edu, or on the Internet at www.umich.edu/~regoff.
Q: I would like to donate historical documents to the University. Whom do I talk to? Or, I would like to learn more about a historical person who was connected to the University. Where do I go?
A: The Bentley Historical Library's field representatives are experts in identifying materials that should be transferred to an archives or manuscript library. For information on donating materials and on the library's programs, please contact

Q: Do alumni have borrowing privileges at the libraries on campus?
A: You may borrow from all of the libraries in the University Library system by purchasing an alumni/guest borrower card. You can request an application for an alumni or guest borrowing card at the Graduate Library North Circulation Desk (734.764.0400).
Q: I'm going to visit the Ann Arbor area and need a place to stay. Whom do I call?
A: Visit the Ann Arbor Area Convention and Visitor's Bureau's Web page at www.annarbor.org for a list of accommodations, attractions, and events in Ann Arbor or call them at 800.888.9487.
Q: I need to find a University or campus phone number.
A: Contact the Campus Operator at 734.764.1817.
Q: Can I purchase a membership at the campus athletic facilities as an alumnus/a?
A: Yes. Contact Rec Sports at www.recsports.umich.edu or via email at recsports@umich.edu. You can also contact the individual recreation buildings at the following numbers:

Q: I just graduated from the University and want to join the Alumni Association. What do I do?
A: Within one year of graduation, you are entitled to receive a free, one-year membership. Please go to alumni.umich.edu/membership/membership_newgrad-free.php to fill out the application. Alumni who graduated within the last three years are entitled to an annual membership at $25 per year (a savings of $34 per year). After that point, annual memberships are $59 per year.
