University planners have unveiled an updated master plan for North Campus that is guided by several themes, including creating strong connections between North Campus and Central Campus, promoting campus vitality, optimizing the capacity for additional development, and respecting and incorporating environmental features. Possible components are directing infill development to the core of North Campus to achieve greater density and more pedestrian presence. Also being considered are development of public spaces that provide areas for the arts and performances, places for people to gather casually, retail opportunities and student services. The planners will look to the small yet real things that define a neighborhood, such as providing somewhere for people to get a cup of coffee. Now that you're out of school and making money, it's time to find a way to manage all those earnings. A recent article in Young Money says online banking might be your best bet. In addition to offering basic services like checking your balance or making transfers, these sites have added features like text messaging, data merging and social networking. Users automatically download information from their bank account, analyze their income and expenses, and even tag expenditures to track monthly averages. To start, check out sites such as Mint, Wesabe and Geezeo. All three ensure that strong security measures are in place. If you don't want to use a Web site to manage your money, ask your bank about similar options. The news is full of stories about jobs that are disappearing or moving overseas. But Yahoo Education lists "10 Great Careers You've Probably Never Heard Of." From viral marketers (who earn roughly $80,000 a year) to conservation scientists (with a median annual salary of more than $56,000), these are the 10 hottest emerging careers that you might not know about, but probably should.
