2005-06 Outstanding Club Award Winners

The Outstanding Club Award Winner for the Metro region, comprised of
clubs in areas with more than 6,000 alumni, is the U
of M Club of Washington, DC.
The Washington, DC Club exceeded expectations in the programming area by hosting
an active and diverse calendar of events that engaged a wide range of alumni
with different interests. This calendar included an impressive array of athletic,
cultural, social, educational, community service, and signature events. The
club’s activities in the areas of scholarship and student recruitment
were outstanding, a shining example for other clubs. The Club’s extensive
use of the Web site, listserv, MAC, regional e-TrueBlue, and supplemental mailings
speaks to their efforts to enhance the visibility of not only the club, but
the University of Michigan and the Alumni Association as well. In the area of
leadership development and continuity, the Washington, DC Club has a finely
tuned succession structure and a development plan which creates opportunities
for new leadership development and encourages new volunteers to get involved.
The Outstanding Club Award Winner for Region 5, comprised of clubs
in areas with 3,000 to 6,000 area alumni, is the U
of M Club of of Denver.
Denver Club excelled in the programming area by hosting events that engage a wide range of alumni with different interests. The Club's activities in the areas of student recruitment were impressive. The Club also does an excellent job of communicating with its members utilizing the listserv, MAC, regional e-TrueBlue, supplemental mailings, and, especially, the website. In the area of leadership development and continuity, the Denver Club has a succession structure and a development plan which creates opportunities for and encourages new volunteers.
For Region 4, comprised of clubs with 2,000 to 3,000 area alumni, the
Outstanding Club Award goes to the U of
M Club of Orange County.
The Orange County Club exceeded expectations in the programming area by hosting a diverse calendar of events that engage a wide range of U-M alumni with different interests. The Club's activities in student recruitment and the scholarship program were outstanding and can serve as a model for all clubs looking to recruit students to the University of Michigan. As for membership, the Club excels in reaching out to all alumni and encourages new volunteers to become active in the club and its leadership. The Club's extensive use of a listserv, MAC, regional e-TrueBlue and supplemental mailings speaks to your efforts to enhance the visibility of not only the club, but the University of Michigan and the Alumni Association as well. In the area of leadership development and continuity, the Orange County Club has a finely tuned succession structure and a development plan which encourages participation all around.
The U of M Club of Holland
is the Outstanding Club Award winner for Region 3, comprised of clubs with 1,000-2,000
area alumni.
The Holland Club is improving in the programming area by planning events that
engage a wide range of alumni with different interests. The Club’s activities
in the areas of scholarship and student recruitment were also notable. As for
public relations and promotion, the Club has made strides toward improving their
marketing efforts and utilizing the club Web site, MAC, and regional e-TrueBlue.
The Outstanding Club Award winner for Region 2, comprised of clubs
with 500 to 1,000 alumni in their area, is the U
of M Club of Manistee.
The Manistee Club improved in the programming area by planning events that engage area alumni with differing interests. The Club's activities in the areas of scholarship and student recruitment were also outstanding, especially with the success of the student send-off picnic. Your efforts to promote club membership to the distinctive "snow bird" population are key to the success of the club. As for public relations and promotion, the Manistee Club has done an impressive job utilizing the Web site, regional e-TrueBlue, the supplemental mailing, as well as their own brochure highlighting their even t successes.
In Region 1, comprised of clubs in areas with fewer than 500 local
alumni, the Outstanding Club Award goes to the U
of M Club of Hilton Head.
The Hilton Head Club showed high energy in the programming area through its efforts to engage local alumni with differing interests. The Club's activities in the areas of scholarship and student recruitment were also outstanding. As for your efforts in the area of membership, the Hilton Head Club is a perennial model for other clubs. Despite its limited resources and small number of area alumni, the Club reveals its innovation by organizing diverse events, reaching out to new members, and encouraging new volunteers to get involved.
