Alumni NetWorks Alumni NetWorks is a career service that offers graduates and current students the opportunity to gain information and networking contacts from one of U-M's most valuable resources, its alumni. Through this program, participants are able to contact alumni mentors who have volunteered to provide career coaching on topics ranging from information about their occupation and how to enter the job market to relocating to a specific city. Some mentors even have internships to offer as well!
The Career Center The Career Center (formerly Career Planning and Placement) is committed to preparing University of Michigan students and alumni/ae to be active, life-long learners in developing and implementing their career decisions. Guided by theory and reflective practice, The Career Center facilitates clients' overall development and provides resources to help them explore and pursue their career and educational goals in a complex, diverse and interconnected world. Recommended Uses: Free services for your first year after graduation; inexpensive career counseling afterwards. The purpose of the Women In Business Initiative is to maximize opportunity and advancement for Michigan women in business. The Initiative focuses on recruiting women to the University of Michigan Business School, creating a welcoming environment for women students, and reaching out to alumnae to support their careers through networking and resources.
There are enormous opportunities for women with educational backgrounds in science, engineering and mathematics fields. The WISE Program seeks to ensure that every woman with the potential and interest in such a career has the necessary background and support to pursue these interests. In order to reach this goal, the WISE Program offers many different programs and resources for K-12, undergraduate and graduate students.
The Center for the Education of Women assists many hundreds of women and men each year, as they make decisions about their futures. The comprehensive counseling program supports exploration of educational and career interests within the context of relationships and life circumstances. Professionally trained counselors work within a developmental framework to help women and men consider their options, make informed choices, and both define and resolve problems, while focusing on issues of achieving balance between work and family responsibilities. » Other Resources Other U-M Placement Centers and Online Job Boards This article contains links to all of the University's on-campus recruiting centers and their online job boards. Quintessential Careers' College Student & College Grad Resources In this section of Quintessential Careers, college students and recent grads can find all the best resources you need to succeed — at college, at a summer job, with an internship, with a job after graduation, with graduate school — with your life and your career. CollegeGrad.com is an Internet job search service that targets college students and recent grads. We are linked to by more colleges and universities than any other career site (we have more than 6,000 active links). We provide more entry level job search content to job seekers than any other site on the Internet. We provide more job views, more qualified candidates and more applications per job posting than any other major job board. Studentjobs.gov is a joint project between the United States Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and the U.S. Department of Education’s Student Financial Assistance office. This Web site is designed to be your one stop for information you need to find the job you want in the Federal Government. Whether you’re in high school, college, or graduate school, you could be eligible for a variety of special opportunities for students in the Federal government. Studentjobs.gov gives you access to OPM's USAJOBS database of thousands of opportunities, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Most Federal agencies are required to post vacancies on this database; and Studentjobs.gov has gathered information on the agencies that aren't required to post their vacancies at Other Job Opportunities, giving you the most comprehensive access to Federal job opportunities available. Learn about co-ops, internships, summer employment, the Outstanding Scholars Program, volunteer opportunities, and plenty of temporary and permanent part-time and full-time jobs.
